Domestic patent filings now more than overseas ones: PM Modi

PM Modi said on Sunday that for the first time in 11 years the number of domestic patent filings exceeded overseas filings, pointing to an increased drive towards innovation in the country. While detailed data was not readily available, Modi said that India now ranked as the 7th highest on the list of countries for patent filing and 5th on trademarks and had made significant gains on the Global Innovation Index.
