SC to hear Rahul Gandhi's plea to stay conviction on July 21

The Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear on July 21 a plea by former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for stay of a Surat court’s verdict convicting him in the ‘Modi’ surname defamation case. He was awarded two-year imprisonment, which resulted in his disqualification as MP from Wayanad constituency in Kerala and threatens to disqualify him from contesting elections till 2030.
