Emergency medical department not mandatory, as per NMC

The National Medical Commission has dropped the requirement for medical colleges to have an emergency medicine department. This was done despite a country-wide study showing that a dedicated emergency department could save several thousand lives. Experts TOI spoke to said the decision rolls the clock back on India’s emergency care system.
