Mind your language: Supreme Court releases gender-just handbook for judges

The Indian Supreme Court has issued a handbook to be used by judges as a guide to gender-just language. The handbook encourages the use of neutral language that avoids patriarchal stereotypes used for decades. Furthermore, the handbook includes a sub-chapter on gender fluidity and discusses harmful stereotypes that can exist with respect to any gender identity. The guide aims to challenge and dispel negative stereotypes and perpetuate discrimination and exclusion.
