Train fire in Madurai claims 9 lives: Smuggled gas stove used, coal & firewood found in coach

Tragedy struck as a private train coach caught fire in the early hours of Saturday, resulting in the deaths of nine pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh at a railway yard about 1km from Madurai junction in Tamil Nadu. Railway authorities said the fire is suspected to have originated from a gas cylinder, smuggled into the coach for cooking meals.
