IIT-K dean giving speech on health collapses on stage, dies

Professor Sameer Khandekar, the Dean of Students Welfare and Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at IIT-Kanpur, passed away from cardiac arrest while delivering a speech at an alumni meet on Friday evening. Ironically, he collapsed on stage while discussing a health-related topic, with his last words reportedly urging others to take care of their health. The 53-year-old had been dealing with cardiac health issues since 2019. Despite being rushed to Laxmipat Singhania Institute of Cardiology, he was declared dead upon arrival.
