MoD inks Rs 5K crore deal with BEL

On Friday, the defense ministry finalized a significant Rs 5,336 crore agreement with the defense public sector unit Bharat Electronics for the acquisition of electronic fuzes designed for the Army's artillery guns. This transaction addresses the extended 10-year requirement for these crucial components. Electronic fuzes play a vital role in medium to heavy calibre artillery guns, delivering sustained long-range firepower crucial for military operations. A defense ministry official explained, "The fuzes, to be produced at BEL's Pune and upcoming Nagpur facilities, will find application in artillery guns capable of engaging lethally in diverse terrains."
