The US tested hypersonic weapon in the Pacific amid competition with China and Russia. Earlier, North Korea also tested a solid-fuel engine for a hypersonic missile targeting the US Pacific territory of Guam, where American military bases are located, and possibly Alaska. Three U.S. military bases are located on the island.
